Background

The summer prior to this, I'd taken on an interest in fixed wing UAVs, and had played around with a few designs. Other projects (including applying to colleges) took precedence, but when I got to Berkeley, I found a group of like minded people & started a team to compete in the CITRIS aviation challenge. This was a great excuse to take what I'd learned (lots more CAD, proficiency in XFLR5, taking ME136 first semester) since my first UAV attempts and create a much more matured mechanical concept. In hindsight, this was a challenge that was much more directed towards the graduate teams,  but I'm still glad we gave it a go- I think we were able to produce a really interesting result.
